Depending on the season, you will have the chance to participate in the recollection of ripe coffee beans (From December thru February).

Half way through the tour, you will visit the famous "Trapiche" where you will enjoy one of the most important products of our land, the sugar cane. This delicious cane juice is extracted in the most traditional way, "la molienda", using two oxen guided by a peasant of the area.

We will continue the tour until arriving to the mill process point, or "beneficio", where the guide will show you the old methods of processing the coffee. The "Chancador", is a method is used to separate the grain from the husks and if you want you can also participate in process. The coffee is of African origin, specifically of the country of Ethiopia and its name is owed to a city called Koffe. It was discovered around 1500 years ago. The first exportation of the Costa Rican grain took place in the year of 1820. At the present time the golden grain or "grano de oro" is very important on social, cultural and economic development of thousands of rural families in the country.

hat makes that the coffee to be of high quality?
