Car-Boat-Car from Monteverde to Arenal

Overview

Without a doubt Car-Boat-Car is the easiest and fastest way of traveling from Monteverde to La Fortuna de San Carlos and vice versa. It takes approximately 3 and a half hours.

First you will need to take a minivan that will pick you up at your respective hotel in Monteverde. Then you will be whisked off to the town of Rio Chiquito where the gravel road ends. This first part of your journey lasts around one hour and 30 minutes. Subsequently, you will cross the Arenal Lake through a boat until arriving to the dike, for around 30 minutes more. On the other side of the lake another minivan will be waiting for you to take you to your respective destination.

During your trip to the lake you will appreciate small islands and of course the majestic Arenal Volcano from different perspectives.
